In August, when the campers have returned home and the bugs are less abundant, a group of women gather on Rainy Lake to unwind and revel in the challenge of wilderness canoe travel. The Ogichi Women’s Trip begins with a Northwoods welcome dinner in the comfort of the Great Lodge. Over the next six days on the water, strangers become friends and “aha” moments are shared through tears and laughter. The trip heads lead with compassion, sensitive to age, experience and aching body parts. If there was ever a vision of teamwork in its rawest form, this is it.
